Twenty five Rohingyas from Sara parang and Anak Parang in Rathedaung were freed for prison after almost three years.
These Rohingyas were arrested on the charges of rioting in 2012.
Our sources say the arrested men and women were defending their village from an attack by a Rakhine mob. Many Muslims who defended their neighbourhoods in 2012 were later arrested on charges of rioting by security forces. Hundreds have died under torture.
At present the freed prisoners are in Chaki para of Akyab. They are expected to be transported to Rathedaung on Wednesday.
One of the Rohingyas arrested with this group is yet to be freed.
