Police have assaulted and fined two Rohingya Muslims in Taimru, Maungdaw for terrorist activities.
Din Mohammed (35) and Ahmed Hossain (29) were going to the nearby river to fish when police stopped them and started interrogating them.
When the two men said they were going to fish, the police assaulted them and claimed that they had just come back from Bangladesh with terrorism directives.
Even under heavy assault, the two men cried their innocence. The police later asked them for money but the poor fishermen were hard pressed for cash.
They were later released on the payment of 60,000 kyats. The two destitute families had to borrow from neighbors to pay the money.
