Two drug smugglers have been injured in an internal feud on the Bangladesh side of the border near Kunar Hali in Maungdaw North.
Gura Miah and Shamsu were beaten with an iron rod when they approached their Bangladeshi counterparts for some outstanding money in an yaba deal. Both the men carried out the business with backing from the Burmese security forces.
The Hlun Htein officers in the area are however extremely annoyed at the publicity created by the violence and is known to blame the drug smugglers for the deal gone wrong.
In recent times, the thorny issue of drug smuggling backed by the Burmese authorities have strained relations with Bangladesh.
