A tabbe extorting villagers in Godusera, Maungdaw North on a regular basis.
Locals say that 35 year Din Mohammad, takes money from villagers on false charges on a regular basis. Anyone refusing to pay is threatened with torture in BGP custody.
Din has also procured a uniform (see picture) that supposedly speaks of his authority. He claims to be a government security official.
Under his rule, other tabbes pick fights with ordinary villagers. The cases are then nrought to the ‘court’ of Din who settles the case in the tabbe’s favour. These false courts are the primary source of his income.
Din pays a considerable amount to the BGP.
