A Rohingya tabbe in cooperation with village administrators swindled relief supplies donated by WFP in Pukaung Chaung, Buthidaung.
On August 16, the WFP donated food for the Rohingyas and put a leading government collaborator named Solim Ullah in charge of distributing the aid. However when the officials had left the scene, Solim in association with Rakhine village administrators sold the food in the market and did not give anything to the flood affected people.
Although Rohingyas have been worst hit by floods in Arakan, aid has been scarce for the community due to government restrictions and efforts to divert the aid for the Buddhist populace. In some areas, aid for Rohingyas have been snatched by security forces and village administrators and given to the Rakhine populace. In other areas, aid given by international organisations have been swindled by community leaders who are generally pro regime men.
