A woman was detained by police as she was travelling from Kyauktaw to Akyab.
Noor Jahan was intercepted near the state capital by Rakhine vigilantes who handed her over to police on suspicion of conspiring to carry out terror attacks.
It is not clear if Noor Jahan was travelling without the proper permission. Under the draconian laws of Arakan state, Rohingya Muslims must obtain prior permission when travelling from one area to another. Rohingyas travelling without permission are arrested and tortured, and even killed often by vigilantes.
Noor Jahan is currently in police custody and her situation is unknown.
