Another Rohingya refugee has died at the Leda camp of Bangladesh in the absence of medical treatment.
On Friday, 25 year Azeda Begum died after three days of intense labour pain. The local midwife recommended she be moved to a medical centre but this was not possible because she was too poor to afford treatment.
The humanitarian situation has deteriorated since March when the Bangladesh government stopped the activities of aid organisations in the overcrowded refugee camp. Since then, many Rohingyas have suffered and even died from lack of medical care.
Azeda’s husband Jamil Ahmed is missing since he boarded a Malaysia bound boat early this year. The couple has two girls who currently don’t have anyone to care for them.
