An 18 year Rohingya woman was kidnapped by miscreants as she crossed the Bangladesh Burma border on the pre dawn hours of Tuesday.
At around 3.45pm, a group of 19 Rohingyas who had crossed over into Bangladesh territory at Shahpuri Deep were discovered by a Bangladesh Border Guard patrol. Fearful of a push back, the Rohingya party fled in different directions.
Two of the Rohingyas, a father and a daughter got separated. At around 4.30 am, a gang of miscreants fell upon the two lost Rohingyas and forcibly tool the woman away. The father unable to protect her daughter raised a huge cry but it only some time before locals could rush to the scene of crime which is located at an isolated spot.
Following the incident, locals, and some Rohingya refugees launched a search mission but the woman is yet to be found.
Other members of the party which scattered when trying to flee from the BGB were also robbed by miscreants. There were altogether 10 men, nine women and two children in the group.
The remote island of Shahpuri Deep is a haven for traffickers and criminals.
The kidnapped woman was supposed to be married to a Rohingya refugee in the coming days.
