An 18year woman was sexually abused by police in Hashurata, Maungdaw South after being accused of selling Bangladesh SIM cards and facilitating connections of local terrorists.
On Wednesday, police raided her home in the late evening time and carried out a fully body search and touched her private body parts. She was then taken to custody.
Her mother later negotiated her release the next day on payment of 650,000 kyats.
The same evening, another man identified as Noor Salam in Hasurata was arrested and fined 50,000 kyats on allegations of using a Bangladesh phone.
