Miscreants terrorise Rohingya settlement

Two woodcutters going to Kiangdong bazar from Chandu para in Rathidaung have been robbed and assaulted by Natala villagers, according to our local correspondent.
At around 3 pm on Friday the woodcutters were travelling with their merchandise alongside a Natala village when the miscreants sweeped upon them. They were beaten and robbed after which they returned empty handed and bruised to their village.
Locals say that the Natala village has virtually blockaded them. They can only go in and out of their village when they are travelling in big groups. The women in their village have not gone out in recent times after an incident of rape and many harassment cases committed by the Natala villagers.
Natala is the local term used to refer to model villagers. Model villagers are comprised of Buddhists who have been settled in Northern Arakan by the government to balance the Muslim population of the area.
