Refugee child dies in road incident in Teknaf

A Rohingya child has died tragically in a road accident today (Wednesday) in Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf high way, a refugee said.
The incident occurred at noon near the Mouchani Primary School in Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf main road of Mouchani village under the Teknaf Police Station.
It is known that Usmat Ara was hit and killed by the reckless speed of the dumper vehicle, while she was crosing the road.
The dead body was identified as Usmat Ara (4-year), daughter of Lalu of Nayapara camp. They are living in the Mouchani (Nayapara) Rohingya refugee camp.
In September last year, they fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar’s army, Rakhines and security forces killing, raping, toturing and burning villages, another refugee said.
The dumper vehicle was seized by the police of Mouchani (Nayapara) camp, but police could not arrest the driver of vehicle because he ran away, Highway Police Outpost ASI Raju Kanti Das said.
However, the legal action would be taken against the driver regarding this matter, the police officer added.
Earlier, many refugee children, including school students were killed by drivers of vehicles. It is very important to take necessary measures against the drivers of vehicles. ##
