Myanmar blast kills three

The Burma Times, Yangoon, Three people have been killed by an explosion at an illegal oil well in Myanmar’s Magwe region.
Local police said that five others were injured in the blast at the illegal well that was being drilled on land owned by a person named as Aung Htet Min by the Myanmar Times.
Oil initially flowed from the crudely drilled well in Yay Kha village, which led villagers to gather round, before there was an escape of gas that caused the fatal explosion.
The injured all suffered severe burns and they are being treated at Mandalay General Hospital.
The police are intending to file criminal charges relating to the deadly explosion at the well in Pauk Township against landowner Aung Htet Min and driller U Hla Toe.
Illegally drilled wells, often by hand, are common in parts of Myanmar, particularly in oil-prone Magwe.
